I had an intern ask me this dilution maths question:
“You have 250 mL of 20% w/v stock solution of sodium chloride. You need to dilute this to 3% sodium chloride. How many millilitres of water do you add to it?”
She knew how to solve this maths problem but didn’t understand WHY you did those calculations.
